10 Signs You're A Natural Born Artist
Are you an artist?
You may be an artist and just not know it.
A lot of people draw every day and don't realize just how talented they are. They question, "Am I an artist?" or they question, "Am I good at drawing?" They doodle on a pad of paper when they are on the phone. They derive great pleasure from simple sketches. Sometimes, they trace shapes with their toes when they're on a bus.
They draw with their fingers on wooden surfaces when they're bored.
Art, my dear friend – is subjective. Nobody is a born artist. But if the passion for drawing exists within, you can become an artist.
Art doesn't need to look perfect.
It definitely doesn't need to compare with someone else's masterpiece.
What makes it art, is that it's unique. It's special. It stands out. Don't shun away from the artist YOU ARE just because nobody has recognized you as one.
You need to step up from your cloud of self-doubt and recognize yourself as an artist. S

Signs of Artistic Talent:
I've been in this field for many years – I've been drawing pencil portraits, ball-point pen portraits, created digital illustrations and comics and so much more. And this post is based on all the signs that I had growing up as well as the signs that my artist friends had.
1. You started reading this article *wink wink*
A tiny inkling urged you to open this article.
You have doubts that you have it in you to create a masterpiece. You take pride and pleasure in creating something new and different and you want to know if you have what it takes to go the distance.
Analyzing your needs and desires is STEP 1 to becoming a full-time artist.
If you love drawing, then take some time to become better at this skill. Buy a few classes: I am currently loving Domestika because it's just a time purchase. And you own the class forever.

2. You cannot (for the life of you) turn off your mind. You find inspiration every darn place you go
Do you constantly have ideas running in your head? Even in the dead of night. Certain colours and shapes fill your mind with inspiring thoughts? Do you get bursts of ideas even when you're walking on a non-interesting foot path?
Even a stone out of place fuels your imagination to create something new? Does the arrangement of clothes in a display window suddenly makes you feel joy you've never known? Or, does entering a book/art store make you feel like you belong? Yes, artists find inspiration in the smallest of things.

3. You have an undying love for notebooks/sketchbooks
Artists of all kinds love notebooks. They love writing.
And drawing. They also love connecting with people and writing down their experiences, their thoughts, their emotions, their ideas. When they do not have a notebook on them, they feel empty.
Anything will do. Tickets, napkins, bills.
They just want to doodle on something to feel wholesome. Don't be afraid to write it all on paper. It comes in handy when you're struck with an idea or an itch to doodle.

4. You are never satisfied with your work as an artist
You always feel you can do better.
After you've completed your masterpiece, you twist and turn your head and criticize your piece from every angle you find. You're already digging out ideas to create a new piece. And you've promised yourself you will do so much better.
This is one of the signs of artistic talent.
Artists are self-driving. You don't need an audience to point out your flaws because you as an artist are your own worst critic.

5. You like your space
You have a dedicated work space in your home to concentrate on your work.
And you cannot focus on people around you. When you brain-storm and people interrupt you, you get mad.
You lose focus. Hence, you enjoy the concept of being alone when you work.
You also feel happy creating new art.
And after you're done, you feel a strong feeling of accomplishment that must be shared with anyone and everyone.
6. You have a different style altogether
Be it your music, the way you dress up, the contents in your bag – you stand out from the rest. You know you're quirky, and you're not afraid to embrace it. You hate stereotypes. You're confident of your likes and dislikes and no one can make you feel bad about it.
A true artist isn't ashamed of what they love. Artists love dressing up in a unique style. They love experimenting with their clothes, their hair and their possessions till they feel it does them justice in expressing themselves.
WARNING: You will be called a "weirdo". People will poke fun at you. But don't let it get to you. You're creative, funny and never dull or boring. Don't be afraid to be who you are.

7. You constantly judge everything around you
You mentally criticize music, films and/or art. And then draw conclusions about the people who love the exact music, films and/or art. You have different suggestions for every little thing you see. You think of ways to make them better.
Some people love listening to your views and as a result, find you humorous. Others find you downright annoying.
A good story lives in your heart and mind forever and nobody will hear the end of your rantings if you find the story terrible. You're the one person that cracks everyone up with your direct and blunt sense of humor. Check out this class that teaches creative drawing techniques for beginners.
8. You see and feel things differently as an artist
While your friends are reading titles of books, you're busy flipping through them to grasp all the illustrations, layout and fonts. You find yourself constantly looking at illustrations or comics on Instagram.
When your friends are commenting on someone's choice of wardrobe, you're secretly admiring the person for being a unique individual.
You are able to shift from joy to sadness in a jiffy. You feel adverse emotions all at once. You're able to put yourself in another person's shoes easily.
This is a beautiful gift you possess because you're able to connect with people and you're sensitive to your environment.

9. You have difficulty finishing your projects, and that's completely normal for an artist
The thrills and joys of starting a new project are like no other. You have a rush of ideas that you have a hard time sorting out. You initially charge at your project with excitement and happiness. And when you're nearly 50% done, you have to muster all the inspiration and perseverance you possibly can collect to follow it through.
Your brain and fingers itch to start something new and get back to your current project later. I fight this battle every day.
I know how exciting and frustrating it can be to start and finish something. Trust me, you're not alone.

10. You're a child at heart
People do not seem to understand how you always come up with fresh and unique ideas. You love telling stories. You're more excited about your art making people happy than making money. You feel a certain pain giving away your art pieces.
You love collecting beautiful stationery.
Things of any kind.
You're an adventurous person who loves to dream BIG.

If you see yourself in more than 5 of these points, then you are definitely a Natural Born Artist. Having the ability and passion to create works of art is a gift as well as a cultivated skill.
Don't let it die. Nurture it. Treasure it. Love yourself for it.
